Random Reflections:
- I want a Wii Fit.
- Eating the SBD way is easier than I thought. I’m sure the novelty of it helps some (eggs and turkey bacon haven’t lost their appeal yet) but as I look through the different SBD cookbooks I get excited and I’m starting to think of favorite foods I want to see if I can find adapted SBD-friendly recipes for. Current stumper: baklava. I love me some baklava…
- I so didn’t feel like going to AquaTone yesterday but after I got over my internal complaining and just went, I felt better. The class is getting to know each other. People asked me where I was last week (I skipped due to a Special Olympics practice). I got to wear my new spiffy swimsuit. I got in a great arms workout. I got to look at the male swim team eye candy. Afterwards I felt so good I went to Yin Yoga. Yin Yoga = Bliss.
- Has anyone else noticed how much being in a hospital wears on you? A friend of mine who I am health surrogate for was admitted to the E.R. today. After visiting, talking to doctors, and trying to calm my friend down I found that I was exhausted. I came home and didn’t feel like running so I didn’t. Instead Running Man and I just watched Project Runway and America’s Next Top Model. While I felt bad skipping it’s the first session we’ve skipped in two or three weeks. And I didn’t turn to food. Would of been so easy to drown my stress in a pint (or two) of Ben & Jerry’s Chunky Monkey (non-breast milk formula plz, thxs ). I didn’t. For that I am proud.
- While I’ve been eating SBD-y, I am not completely on plan yet. Why? Well I haven’t finished reading the book. I know; I’m lame. But I’m in graduate school and have a lot of other reading to do so give me a break! Also, I have two weekends that will be hard to fare SBD-wise. Tomorrow I leave for Sebastian, FL for the State Special Olympics Aquatic Tournament. Special Olympics will provide athletes, coaches, and chaperon with food for the entire weekend. Not exactly a time I can say, “Yea, I need two cups of veggies and a boca burger please.” I’ll try and make smart choices with what I’m offered, I’m bring little Ziploc snack bags of 1 oz portions of mixed nuts, but I won’t be able to stick to the restrictive Phase 1 of SBD.
How I choose change:
- I will eat sensibly this weekend. While I won’t be able to choose my food per say, I can keep from allowing myself to use my trip as an excuse to veer completely off track.
- Going to bed at a decent hour. I did not succeed on this last week. I will work on it again this week. I’ll aim for midnight every night. I like doing this 8 minute “Yoga for Better Sleep” routine before bed. Try it! It’s easy and ohhmmm-tastic!
- Time a 3.2 mile run. While I’m doing the Couch to 5k program (at week 3! Wooohooo!) I have no idea what time I would clock running 3.2 miles. Next week I’m going to see if Running Man wants to go to the local HS track and time it. It’d be nice to have a before time to compare to when I run the Turkey Trot in November.

Congrats on your loss. Looks like you are on your way!
Have a great weekend!

Congrats on your loss this week! The changes you are working on look good. I have a subscription to Fitness magazine and I remember doing that 8 minute yoga routine for a while. Must try it again, it was quite a nice way to wind down at bed time.
Great job!!!! I can’t wait to see all our results on Sunday — the grand total will be amazing, I just know.
