Hello Everyone from Sunny Key Largo!

CIMG0174I know some of you are curious about my adventures in the Keys. If you aren’t, just disregard this portion of my post!

I’m doing really well. It’s beautiful here in Key Largo. I ride my bike everywhere and at work we are always standing or walking somewhere, a definite difference from my office job in Tallahassee.

Greenie: My Main Mode of Transportation

I have a long, rambling blog post floating around my head about cultural differences regarding diet and exercise based on living with people from the UK, Switzerland, and Germany. Hopefully I can get that down on (electronic) paper soon. Though my days are blissfully free besides working at Island Dolphin Care, it’s amazing how the day seems to fly by and my very short to do list (take vitamins, compose blog posts/emails, send postcards) never seems to get addressed. Hopefully my second week will be more productive on those fronts.

This week, while I rode my bike a lot, I didn’t exercise. Next week I will focus on getting in 40 minutes of cardio daily. Either biking, going to the local park, swimming, or walking. I’m also going to meal plan the night before and stick to it. This last week I ate haphazardly and, while I didn’t eat bad, I want to utilize all the time I have to be my ideal self while I’m here.

This Week’s Goals:

  • Exercise 40-45 minutes/ day
  • Meal plan and track
  • Send out postcards
  • Blog/journal more
  • Be present. Get out of my head and enjoy the magnificent experience I’m in.

It’s amazing how a reprieve from your daily routine stirs up so many odd memories and thoughts. I feel like I’m regularly slipping into stream of consciousness thinking here, because I’m afforded the ability to and the time. Still, I’m worrying that’s taking away from my experience here. I need to work on being present in the moment and enjoying it while I’m here. Time to slow the thoughts down and dismiss thse that are not constructive.

My goal for the next three weeks:  realizing my ideal self! With the help of Squirt and Lotus of course!
